Taxi Bilbao

In Bilbao, taxis run on a regulated meter and operate 24 h: the daytime urban flag-drop is about €4 – €4.85, the kilometre costs between €0.74 and €0.90, and the night surcharge (22:00-06:00) raises both values by 20-50 %. An Airport → city-centre ride is usually €20-25 by day and €25-30 at night, while local companies offer fixed prices or premium fleets if you book in advance. Below you’ll find a market overview, the profile of the two dispatchers you asked for, and a few tips to travel without surprises.

The staff who answer the call are rude, they don't let you talk, they answer that there are no free taxis, I continue to ask something else and the rudest people in the world wouldn't let me talk, they just said that there is no service and then they hung up on me

Great service, cars and customer service. Without a doubt the best option for taxis in Bilbao. They had a mistake with me and they knew how to correct it satisfactorily. Congratulations.

I booked a taxi in the morning to go to the airport in the afternoon. The taxi didn't show up, I called the company and I was told that they were not able to send any taxi. Besides, they couldn't call me because they are not authorized to dial international phone calls, not even to EU numbers, ridiculous. Highly unreliable and not recommended

The worst service in the world. It's incredible that you can't get a taxi in Bilbao at any time of day, no matter where you call, because they're busy and the ranks are empty. Then they don't want other companies to compete with them? Dismal. And the same goes for the phone service; they're rude and hang up on you. It's rubbish.

It's a disgrace. Then they complain about Uber. But hey, guys, I got out of the hospital yesterday because my son fainted on the subway. I called this company to order a taxi at 10 p.m., and a machine told me there were no taxis and they hung up on me. I called an Uber, and they picked me up in 10 minutes. I dropped him off there.

They live the way they want!!! When it's late, on holidays, or during an event... You can't find a taxi in Bilbao. That said, at "good" times, they don't pull into the ranks and even bother other vehicles. I hope they give VTCs more leeway and start to take the profit out of the taxi "mafia," which is so enriching.
The whole industry is pathetic, what a shame.

The best!

Typical costs & real cases

  • Airport → Casco Viejo: 15 min / ≈ €25 by day.
  • Airport during mass events: during the 2025 Europa League final, VTCs hit €134 vs. the regulated taxi’s €30.
  • Online calculator: various dispatchers publish simulators that confirm the amount before you travel.

Practical tips

  1. Correct tariff: make sure the driver activates Tariff 2 from 22:00 to 06:00; the difference is ~35 %.
  2. Online bookings: Class Taxi and Radio Taxi Nervión allow you to lock in vehicle and price via web or app—handy at tourist peaks.
  3. Cash-free payments: Bizum and contactless are available in over 90 % of the Radio Taxi Nervión fleet.
  4. Special vehicles: travelling in a group (+6 pax) or with extra luggage? Class Taxi offers minivans at the big-taxi rate plus a small supplement.

Flag-drop €4–5; km €0.74–1.11; airport €25. Choose Class Taxi for a premium saloon or Radio Taxi Nervión for the largest 24-h fleet. Book ahead if you fly late, ask for a fixed fare on long stretches and never pay more than the municipal maxima: that way you’ll avoid the surcharges that sometimes crop up with VTCs on high-demand days.
